A touch of jean-ius!

Jeans, jeans and more jeans… children have a funny habit of growing out of their clothes, so what do you do with all their old jeans? Well, in the spirit of ‘reduce, reuse or recycle’, some may go to charity shops, some are passed on within the family or to friends with younger children and then there is the option of putting them into one of the large clothing recycling bins on the street. However, one sure way of knowing the jeans will go to good use afterwards is to turn them into something useful for yourself! This is how…

So it turns out I can paint….

Vincent Van Gogh was once quoted as saying “If you hear a voice within you say, ‘You cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” I heard that voice often in my head as I did not really think I could paint, at least not properly. The few exploits I did undertake generally centred around rainy day activities with my kids, which was just playing. I’m not sure why as adults we often feel our activities must be ‘serious’ and we should be all-knowledgeable. What is ‘painting properly’ anyway? So I decided to silence that voice…

Delighted to have been selected to participate in the exhibition “Couleurs et Saveurs” at the MPAA Broussais in Paris running from 3rd – 26th June 2016. The exhibition brings together 5 artists from different artistic fields (painting, photography, video, textiles) to show how colours, tastes and sensual perceptions inspire and influence their work.
